Unquestionably the most formidable husband/wife team in the history of southern rock and blues music. Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi have put together a new band which is officially scheduled to hit the road in the spring and summer of 2011 with a studio album soon to follow. The result of eighteen months of dedicated musical focus.
Revelator features the newly formed Tedeschi Trucks Band, an eleven-member ensemble. Harmony singers Mike Mattison and Mark Rivers have joined forces with brothers Oteil Burbridge, noted for his years as bassist with the Allman Brothers Band, and Kofi Burbridge, longtime keyboardist/flutist with The Derek Trucks Band, a pair of drummers J. J. Johnson and Tyler Greenwell, plus trumpeter Maurice Brown, tenor saxophonist Kebbi Williams, and trombonist Saunders Sermons. Additionally, Ryan Shaw and David Ryan Harris and Alam Khan supply harmony vocals to various tracks on the album. The fact that this includes so many musicians related by experience and blood clearly adds to the notion of Revelator as a true group album, the product of a musical family. Tedeschi has risen to fame with multiple Grammy Award nominations. Both Grammy-nominated artists individually, including competing nominations. Both Derek and Susan have been hailed top of their class. In 2010 Grammy Award nominations. The Derek Trucks Band won in the Best Contemporary Blues Album category. Tedeschi having contributed vocals to the cause, this duo will undoubtedly become one of the greatest husband and wife performing duos of all time
